Welcome to the website of the Association of Art Therapists in Iceland

The association was founded in September 1998.

The role of the association is to promote professionalism, monitor innovations in the field of art therapy, develop and improve treatment routes and educate art therapy in Iceland.

Art therapists who are members and work in this country must have advanced education at a tertiary level in art therapy from a recognized institution. Other education or experience does not replace this formal requirement of the association. The requirement is in accordance with the rules for the work of art therapists in the UK and the United States.
